Our Story
It all started because an event-planning granddaughter asked her grandpa to be Santa

Back in 2022, Bree found herself scrambling to find an affordable, real-bearded Santa for her Christmas event when the answer became obvious; Grandpa could do it. His love for his granddaughter was enough to coax him out of retirement and into the iconic red suit. The moment he walked in, something clicked. Santa Gary didn’t just play the part—he lived it. He listened to every child, laughed with them, and smiled so warmly that a permanent twinkle settled into his eyes.
By November 2023, the magic had grown too big to keep to themselves. South East Santa officially launched and quickly became a neighbourhood favourite, spreading Christmas cheer at McKenzie Towne Council, New Brighton RA, Auburn Bay RA, and even a few local “celebrity” holiday events. Word travelled fast: this Santa felt real. Santa Gary & Bree appeared on a segment of Global News promoting his Photos with Santa, and event was recently so magical it was picked up by Calgary's Virgin Radio.
Bree the Elf and Santa Gary live just across the street from one another in McKenzie Towne, often planning the season over Mrs. Claus’ famous roast while mapping out visits and events. Year after year, Gary has begun to recognize children from past appearances, greeting them like old friends and deepening the magic with every familiar smile.
And when the final bells of December ring, Santa and Mrs. Claus trade the snow for sunshine. Each year on December 30th, they jet off to Barbados and return to being the community’s favourite grandparents—Gary and Maija.
Meanwhile, Bree hangs up her elf hat and steps back into her everyday life as an event planner… and quietly starts counting down the days until Christmas all over again.
